What is the Lizcore® System?

The Lizcore® system was born from the need to bring innovation and technology to climbing in climbing gyms. In other sports, such as running or paddle tennis, monitoring is a source of motivation and helps improve performance. However, in climbing, we didn’t have an easy solution. While it is true that there are many apps, it is not practical to climb with a mobile phone or have to enter data after each session. Seeing that climbing lacked a comprehensive and specific solution, Lizcore was born in 2022.

Our first objective was to make using a mobile phone to monitor climbing not the only option. And we started by creating a technology that allows you to monitor climbing without the use of a mobile phone.

The Founders

The founders of Lizcore are two entrepreneurs united by a deep love for the mountains, self-improvement, and human values shaped by their passion for sports.

Edgar Casanovas, the founder and creator of Lizcore, brings over 20 years of experience in professional climbing, where he learned to constantly improve and find solutions in any situation. He is joined by Marçal, an ultra-trail athlete and mountain enthusiast whose endurance and determination perfectly complement Edgar’s strength and creativity.

Together, they aim to build more than just a company — they envision a thriving community built on values like self-improvement, camaraderie, safety, and motivation.

As a professional climber, I have always sought excellence in this sport, driven by my own self-demand and spirit of self-improvement. When I met the Lizcore team, I saw in them a love for climbing, a passion for evolving the sport, and strong values.

It’s true that when I think about my beginnings as a climber in a homemade climbing wall with stones fixed to the wall, and now I look at the large climbing gyms full of climbers, there are moments when I feel a bit sad. But it’s selfish to want to keep this sport for only a few. Those of us who love the sport should offer this incredible activity to everyone, especially seeing how other sports are evolving thanks to technology. We can’t look back and not let our sport evolve. That’s why I believe that seeing a company with the potential of Lizcore and with the values they hold makes me proud to join a company that not only seeks its own benefit but aims to improve climbing. They show this by donating 1% of their annual profits to climbing for re-equipping and cleaning climbing sectors.

With sorrow for how climbing evolves, but with pride to be part of this evolution—just like I was when I believed an 8c+ could be onsighted. Now, I believe climbing can be tracked, gamified, and made safer in the hands of a company that cares about the sport as much as I do and that doesn’t only seek its own benefit.

Their integrated system of tracking, gamification, and safety enhances the experience for everyone, from beginners to professionals. Safety, which is key for me, is addressed with AI to prevent accidents. Additionally, performance analysis helps climbers reach their full potential.
Lizcore is the future of climbing: safer, more engaging, and more efficient. A project I’m proud to be a part of.
